Mom's getting discharged today, although of course she'll have PT for a while. I'm not sure if that's going to be in-home or if she'll go to the hospital for it. She got the surgery at Our Lady of Lourdes, which is a Catholic hospital--lots of those in south Louisiana--so a priest came in before the surgery and asked if she wanted to be prayed over ( Read more... )

So, Jane Birkin recently died, I vaguely knew who she was. Swinging London model/singer/fashion muse, style icon--the Hermès Birkin Bag is named after her--also an actor but mostly in French cinema. Most coverage of her death was accompanied by photos of her in her fabulous gorgeous heyday:

I finished Sea of Tranquility on Sunday and started reading my next book, a non-fiction book about the Kingdom of Hawaii. But a few pages in I decided to re-read some Agatha Christie books instead. (I only read the Hercule Poirot stories. I don't like Miss Marple, who seems like Jessica Fletcher + tea - fun.)
